My Prezi

My Prezi is about Why I want to teach 2nd grade. I go through a lot of what I hope to achieve as a teacher as well as what I hope to use in my classroom! From brain training to teachers blogs I have added a lot of great content onto the Prezi and I hope that you all enjoy it!

I really enjoyed this assignment. I wish I have known about Prezi back in high school for all of my presentations, it's so handy!! I enjoyed all the different templates and colors and how you could customize it to the way that you wanted to! I can see myself using Prezi in my future classroom to help with my lessons. I am even going to tell my younger brother about Prezi now since he just started his freshman year of college!

Three Great Teacher Blogs

Looking for teacher blogs for the 2nd grade age range was a delight. I enjoyed getting to explore and read about teachers in the dream profession and class I hope to have! Below are three great blogs specifically for 2nd grade!

The first is called Sunny Days in Second Grade: http://sunnydaysinsecondgrade.blogspot.com/

This blog was wonderful and I spent a good 25-30 minutes on it just exploring and reading what she had to say and what she was doing. I loved how colorful and inviting it was, as well as how age appropriate the template was. I instantly got the feeling of being back in elementary school with her template choice, and reading her entries put me in a great mood and made me wish I could graduate already and have my own classroom!

The second is called Tech with Jen: http://blog.techwithjen.com/

This blog was really interesting. Jen takes the approach that is similar to this class in the fact that she explains and goes over how the use of technology is important in the classroom. My uncle, a reading specialist in a school in Indiana, and I were just recently discussing how he had been using apps and his iPad for reading and interactive activities and how exactly it was benefiting the students. I also like the fact that she gives templates, examples, etc. in her blog for everyone to buy. Awesome!

Last but not least, the third blog I chose to use is Hello Mrs. Sykes: http://hellomrssykes.blogspot.com/

This blog was so stinking cute. I love the coloration and layout. I also love the fact that she gives teacher resources and examples of how she teaches. I feel that it is incredibly helpful to be able to see how someone teaches and what they use. I hope that when I become a teacher, I remember back on this assignment and create a blog so that I can showcase what my students and I are doing as well as help other teachers our with examples and templates!

Welcome to my Blog!

Hello everyone! My name is Abigail (Gaylor) Morris and I am a second year student here at CSCC. I am happily married to the love of my life, Britton, and currently pregnant with our first little bundle of joy! We live in a tiny little town in southern Ohio where there are hills all around and quaint southern accents. We have three dogs, two yorkies and a black lab. Winnie, our five year old yorkie, is a very sweet, opinionated and spoiled little princess. She has a severe Napoleonic Complex and rules the roost. Next in the age line up is our sweet Lani, our two year old black labrador. She adores anything that involves a ball or squeaky toy. She is also incredibly intelligent and knows how to get ice out of the ice machine, which happens to be her favorite treat. Last but not least is our newest addition, our eight month old yorkie, Milo. He is our super rambunctious and always sweet little man who loves to play with his older sisters. He is our outgoing dog who loves everyone he meets and loves to play with every dog out there. Even though he is small, he is a fierce little dog. Other than our dogs and love of animals, Britton and I enjoy sports(baseball and football) and love to take little adventures, watch movies, cook together and spend time with our family.

I have so many aspirations when it comes to my future as an educator. I wish to teach elementary school and with that experience I would eventually like to get my masters in special education so that I can better help all students. I would like to obtain my bachelors degree from either Ohio University, Wright State University or Shawnee State University in the next couple of years so that I can begin my journey in what I love most. I adore children and I love watching them learn and achieve what they want to achieve and more.

I can't wait to begin this semester and being learning about educational technology. I hope everyone has a successful and enjoyable semester!
